Loin du Froid de Décembre

Last December me and my fiancé modeled for my friend Sanni, pretending to be a wedding couple as she needed wedding pictures for her portfolio.

It was freezing cold but the pictures look magically warm. I'm time and time again amazed by Sanni's talent. (I'm also glad we aren't really going to get married in winter so we never have to endure this again. :'D)

So, here are my favourite pictures from the shoot (which means almost all of them because all of them are so beautiful):

Outfit details

Dress - Baby, the Stars Shine Bright (borrowed from Sanni)
Belt and bow - made by Sanni
Shoes - Minna Parikka

And fiancé's suit - Hugo Boss.

#LolitaChristmasChallenge

Hello everyone, and happy December!

My friend Mimi came up with a brilliant idea:

#LolitaChristmasChallenge!

Her idea was to create a sort of Christmas calendar with lolita coordinations on Instagram. I fell in love with this concept right away and wanted to participate, so we came up with the hashtag and decided to share this with you - it would be lovely if someone else would like to take part in this, as well! So if you like the idea, please feel free to participate! I'll be sure to check out any coordination under the hashtag. :)

The "rules":

1. Pick a theme - it doesn't have to be Christmas related. It could be anything: your favourite season, colour, pattern, animal, place, food...
2. Create a coordination around that theme from 1st to 24th of December.
3. Take a picture of your coordinate (either worn, on a dummy or simply laid out) and post it to Instagram.
4. Remember to tag all your coordinations with #LolitaChristmasChallenge.
5. Be creative & have fun!

My theme for the challenge: bunnies

It wasn't that hard to decide what my theme would be! I will try to create 24 different coordinations ranging from just slightly neurotic to full on crazy bunny lady mode.

Mimi's theme is tartan (one of her favourite patterns) and you'll find her creations @mimiparapluie.

Hellocon 2016 outfit & purchases

Hello, everyone!

I'm trying to get back on track with blogging - and I do have lots of material, too! :'D

So here's my outfit for Helsinki Lolita Convention 2016, also known as the last Hellocon ever. I'm curious to see what's up next.

My theme for the outfit was crazy bunny lady à la crazy bunny lady. Bunnies are one of my favourite, most frequently seen themes nowadays! I've gone on full crazy bunny lady mode and I have no regrets. I've been hoarding lots of bunny themed accessories and home decor stuff lately. I really liked this outfit, and I love that dress! The powder pink bag is a lucky find from Rome - we made another trip there this spring and the Italians really do know how to make cute leather bags and shoes...

Outfit details

Dress - Juliette & Justine
Blouse - Mango
Hair accessories - H&M, second hand
Earrings - Kalevala Jewelry
Brooch - Chocomint
Bag - souvenir from Rome
Shoes - Minna Parikka

My purchases

I'm in a good place financially now that I'm working, so I promised myself that this will be the Hellocon where I am allowed to buy anything I want. And so I did. It was super fun though I did have some quilty feelings later - I'm not used to spending so much money at once. I've been doing a make over in my wardrobe - I've bought quite a few new things, but I've also sold many dresses that don't fit my style anymore.

So, in Hellocon I bought
  • A beautiful Twin Flower dress, handmade of recycled materials
  • Baby's classical heart bag which I have been drooling over ever since I started dressing in lolita fashion a little over decade ago
  • Innocent World's bolero - another thing I've wanted for a very long time
  • Miss Danger Shop's bunny brooch/headdress (what did I say about hoarding bunny stuff?!) and
  • Illves's adorable chubbycorn brooch.

And in the end, some close ups.

Easter outfit with a bunny theme

Good evening everyone!

I've been really lazy to update my blog, but I have many outfits to share, so do stay tuned!

This one is from Easter. My friend Karla organized an Easter party and the theme was bunnies - which always works for me! - so I threw in a couple of bunny themed accessories.

It feels so weird to look at this outfit now, when it's sunny and warm outside and I have those thick black stockings. But back then it was still chilly and I actually liked this outfit. x)

Outfit details:
Dress - Innocent World
Blouse - Mango
Shoes - Minna Parikka
Purse - Ted Baker
Roses - H&M
Earrings - A gift from my lil' sis'
Bunny brooch - sorry, but I don't remember...

Gone with the wind

Hello, everyone!

Here's an outfit from a couple of weeks ago. I went to a tea party hosted by my friend Karla.

At that time I was reading Gone With the Wind and it might have inspired my hairdo.

Outfit details

Dress - Innocent World
Blouse - Mango
Roses - H&M
Shoes - Neosens
Jewelry - A gift from my friend Tiia

Karla's bird Doris seemed to like me, or at least she wanted me to scratch her a lot. Doris loves scratches above all (even food).

She also likes to be photographed. Karla said that the bigger and fancier the camera, the more she loves it. I put the sounds on on my phone and when she heard the clicks, she started to pose, standing very still and pretty until I put the phone away. What a funny bird. x)

Valentine's Day Tea Party

Good evening, everyone!

Well well, long time, no blogging. To be honest I've been reflecting if I should give blogging up all together. Now that I write almost daily in my job I find it harder to find energy for blogging. I don't have as much time and energy to wear lolita as I'd like, either.

On the other hand I've had this blog so long that I'm not quite ready to give up on it yet. And neither am I ready to give up lolita fashion. So now I'm thinking that maybe I should still keep blogging, even if it's less frequent, and try to invest in the quality of photos I share here, using a proper camera whenever it's possible. There will surely still be occasional phone shots, as I most certainly will not carry my camera with me all the time in the future either.

So, dear lords and ladies, please bear with me - I'm not dead, I'm just busy with my work and studies. If you want more frequent updates on what I'm up to, feel free to follow me on Instagram - I update it more often. My current account is @caranette.

And the actual topic of this post is a Valentine's day tea party that Mimi hosted, or more precisely my outfit for it. The party was just fabulous. Mimi and her husband had prepared blini with several delicious toppings and chocolate cake with vanilla cream. Everything was served with Russian style samovar tea which was delicious, too. Of course it was also nice to see my frilly girls after a long time, and be able to wear frills myself. :3

My outfit for the day was simple and comfy. I liked this one a lot.

I also take this opportunity to show some of my latest purchases; a Laura Ashley coat and a Michael Kors purse. I bought these keeping both my everyday style and my lolita style in mind, and in my opinion they go very well with both.

Outfit details

Dress: Innocent World
Bow clip: H&M
Blouse: Mango
Earrings: Kalevala Jewelry
Coat: Laura Ashley
Purse: Michael Kors
Shoes: Tamaris

Have a nice weekend, everyone! :)
